Description

This listing is for sheets that we have isolated from our main stock as they may require some additional time and care whilst working with them. We are isolating about 90% of the sheets we receive because BB is usually ordered for use in products where both sides of the sheet are seen.  They are still graded as BB from the manufacturer, however we felt they should be sold at a discount as they;
– May have some deeper rough sections that need more sanding
– May have some crack lines or filled lines on the ends of the sheet
– May have some imperfections eg small dent etc.
– May be better suited to smaller projects vs larger cuts.

These are not seconds or reject sheets. They are all handled with care, and stored properly.  These sheets are listed at $25 less per sheet.

This is a high quality laser plywood made in Australia from Hoop Pine (Araucaria Cunninghamii) a native Australian species. There are 3 other products in this category if you are looking for alternative thicknesses or face grades of this plywood.

This product has the following attributes
Thickness:
4mm (can be between 4 and 4.5mm)
Face Grade: BB – Has a B grade face to both from and back sides of the sheet
Glue Type: Made with an interior glade glue (C-Bond MUF)
Sheet Size: The full sheet size is 1200x2400mm and is cut to either 600x1200mm, 900x600mm, 600x600mm or 600x400mm

What to expect with a BB TLC sheet?
Overall the sheet is very usable. The main reason for a sheet to be moved into the TLC category is because of some rough patches or a small crack on one side of the sheet. Being a BB sheet, we would hope that both sides were similar, but often one side may have some minor imperfection which leads to a high percentage of sheets moving to the TLC category.

Important:
– As it is a natural product, every piece is unique and will feature different characteristics
– The sheet may contain rough patches in isolated areas of the sheet. Sanding could be required for these areas.
– There will be manufacturers stamp on the back of the sheet. It may impact around 3-5% of the rear sheet surface.

Q.  Is this easy to laser cut?
A.  Yes, this laser plywood uses an interior grade glue and cuts beautifully to give a golden brown edge. Always follow instructions provided by your laser cutter manufacturer and always run adequate air extraction when laser ctting any materials. Wait and allow the laser cutter to fully evacuate all fumes before opening the machine. 6MM is on the left (5 layer) and 4mm is on the right (3 layer).

Q. How are the sheets graded?
A. The manufacturer grades all sheets and this will be stamped or printed on the back of the sheet. This will mean that some portion of your plywood sheet will have a grading stamp on the surface. In most cases these can be sanded off. Though very uncommon, A, B and C grades of plywood may still contain minor filler and imperfections. Sheets may need sanding in some sections if any rough patches are present. Grading takes into account items such as knots, cracks, filler, dark stains etc.

Q. What will the grain look like?
A. Each new batch of stock we receive will be unique. We have added several images to the product gallery to demonstrate this. Below are example sheets from a recent batch of BB grade Hoop Pine.
Full sheets can look busy, but the grain becomes more subtle once cut down to smaller sheets.

Q. Do you sell 3mm Laser Ply?
A. We do have a 3mm hoop pine laser plywood also, but because it’s more expensive vs the 4mm hoop pine (more labour intensive to manufacture), we decided not to range it as a core line and instead opted for 4mm and 6mm. We do have some available, so please email and we can see if we can help.

Q. Are the sheets flat?
A. Our stock is kept under what we call “sandwich pallets”, which we built to produce a smooth flat and even pressure to store our plywood and MDF. This stock is kept out of direct sunlight and dry within our factory.  Plywood sheets may have some stresses in them which can present as minor twists or waves in the sheet. This is something we can not control, as it can be present direct from the manufacturer. By choosing a smaller sheet size (eg 600x400mm), more of the stresses can be released during the cutting process, resulting in a flatter sheet. Choosing cut options B and D will have the grain running length ways and is more prone to having a twist in the sheet.

Q. How do you package the plywood
A. Our stock is carefully cut and packaged. We use heavy duty custom boxes to send the majority of our products including plywood.  Below is 600x400mm and 600x600mm orders being packed.

Manufactured to meet E0 formaldehyde levels (Less than or equal to 0.5 mg/l)

  • As this is a natural timber product,  each sheet will be unique in terms of grain pattern and the presence of darker sections from inner layers of the plywood.
  • It is recommended to store your plywood sheet with a weight on top of the entire sheet and to store in a dry area out of direct sunlight or varying temperatures.
  • Sheet measurements may have a variance of +/- 5mm as we do us a vertical panel saw to cutdown plywood
