Description

This listing is for downgraded sheets of bamboo. These have been isolated due to various items affecting them such as:

  • High density of knots over majority of sheet
  • Higher than normal bend to the sheet
  • Darker streaks on both sides

These are better suited to smaller cuts/projects. Limited stock and heavily discounted.

Choose from 6 cutting options labelled from A to F. Please see images to better understand cut difference.

The Narrow Grain style involves a tight-knit grain that is linear in appearance with small visible notches. Carbonised Bamboo involves an additional manufacturing process akin to the caramelisation of sugar in which exposure to high temperatures browns the starch within the raw materials.

This product has the following attributes
Thickness:
2.5mm
Sheet Size: The full sheet size we stock is 1220x2440mm and we can provide this cut down to 600x1200mm, 900×600, 600x600mm or 600x400mm
Ply Count: 5 ply

Q.  Is this easy to laser cut?
A.  Yes, being a thin material it will cut nicely when matched with a good air assistance. Whenever cutting this material make sure you are using proper fume extraction, vented outdoors with adequate airflow.

Q. Do you sell other thickness of Laser Bamboo?
A. Currently we only sell the 2.5mm Narrow Grain Bamboo. We have access to a wide range of bamboo thicknesses and types, but will need to order this in. Feel free to reach out if you have any particular requests.

Q. Are the sheets flat?
A. Our stock is kept under what we call “sandwich pallets”, which we built to produce a smooth flat and even pressure to store our plywood and MDF. This stock is kept out of direct sunlight and dry within our factory.  Plywood sheets may have some stresses in them which can present as minor twists or waves in the sheet. This is something we can not control, as it can be present direct from the manufacturer. By choosing a smaller sheet size (eg 600x400mm), more of the stresses can be released during the cutting process, resulting in a flatter sheet. Choosing cut options B and D will have the grain running length ways and is more prone to having a twist in the sheet.

Q. How do you package the plywood
A. Our stock is carefully cut and packaged. We use heavy duty custom boxes to send the majority of our products including plywood.

Additional Information:

  • As this is a natural timber product,  each sheet will be unique in terms of grain pattern and the presence of knots.
  • It is recommended to store your plywood sheet with a weight on top of the entire sheet and to store in a dry area out of direct sunlight or varying temperatures.
  • Sheet measurements may have a variance of +/- 5mm as we do us a vertical panel saw to cutdown plywood
  • Whenever cutting this material make sure you are using proper fume extraction, vented outdoors with adequate airflow
