Description

This listing is for sheets that we have isolated from our main stock as they may require some additional time and care whilst working with them. We are isolating about 50% of the sheets we receive. They are still graded as AC from the manufacturer, however we felt they should be sold at a discount as they;
– May have some rough sections that could require sanding
– May have thin crack lines, sometimes filled during manufacturing
– May have some imperfections eg small dent or knot etc.
– May be better suited to smaller projects vs larger cuts.

These are not seconds or reject sheets. They are all handled with care, and stored properly.  These sheets are listed at $25 less per sheet.

Choose from 6 cutting options labelled from A to F. Please see images to better understand cut difference.

This is a high quality laser plywood made in Australia from Hoop Pine (Araucaria Cunninghamii) a native Australian species.

This product has the following attributes
Thickness:
4mm (can be between 4 and 4.5mm)
Face Grade: AC – Has an A grade face and C Grade back.
Glue Type: Made with an interior glade glue (C-Bond MUF)
Sheet Size: The full sheet size is 1200x2400mm and is cut to either 600x1200mm, 900x600mm, 600x600mm or 600x400mm.

What to expect with a AC TLC sheet?
Overall the sheet is very usable. The main reason for a sheet to be moved into the TLC category is because
of larger areas of rough patches on the front “A” grade side of the sheet. See image below.
We must highlight that it will only be minor. Deep rough patches on the “A” grade side will cause the sheet
to be marked as reject/seconds.

The “C” Grade rear of the sheet can be very rough (see below image), may have discolored areas and could contain thin crack lines.
Often these thin crack lines have been filled during the manufacturing process. This level of roughness
below will only be seen on the “C” grade rear side of the sheet.

Important
– As it is a natural product, every piece is unique and will feature different characteristics
– There will be manufacturers stamp on the back of the sheet. It may impact around 3-5% of the rear sheet surface.
– Each sheet is visually inspected by our team and the about 50% of each delivery is moved into our TLC category with a $25 discount applied.

Q.  Is this easy to laser cut?
A.  Yes, this laser plywood uses an interior grade glue and cuts beautifully to give a golden brown edge. Always follow instructions provided by your laser cutter manufacturer and always run adequate air extraction when laser ctting any materials. Wait and allow the laser cutter to fully evacuate all fumes before opening the machine. 6MM is on the left (5 layer) and 4mm is on the right (3 layer).

Q. How are the sheets graded?
A. The manufacturer grades all sheets and this will be stamped or printed on the back of the sheet. This will mean that some portion of your plywood sheet will have a grading stamp on the surface. In most cases these can be sanded off. We have added several product images to best show the type of variation seen within this grade of plywood. Though very uncommon, A, B and C grades of plywood may still contain minor filler and imperfections. Sheets may need sanding in some sections if any rough patches are present. Grading takes into account items such as knots, cracks, filler, dark stains etc. That said, we also conduct our own quality checks when new stock arrives and segregate into 3 of our own categories for sale:

  • AC Grade   (Normal Sheet)
  • AC Grade – TLC SHEET  ($25 discount per sheet)
  • AC Grade – Downgraded Sheet ($40 discount per sheet)

Q. Do you sell 3mm Laser Ply?
A. We will have a 3mm options in late Oct 2023. We decided not to range the Hoop pine in 3mm because it’s actually more expensive vs the 4mm option (more labour intensive to manufacture).

Q. What will the grain look like?
A. Each new batch of stock we receive will be unique. We have added several images to the product gallery to demonstrate this. Below are two sheets from a recent batch of showing the A grade side.
Full sheets can look busy, but the grain becomes more subtle once cut down to smaller sheets.

Q. Are the sheets flat?
A. Our stock is kept under what we call “sandwich pallets”, which we built to produce a smooth flat and even pressure to store our plywood and MDF. This stock is kept out of direct sunlight and dry within our factory.  Plywood sheets may have some stresses in them which can present as minor twists or waves in the sheet. This is something we can not control, as it can be present direct from the manufacturer. By choosing a smaller sheet size (eg 600x400mm), more of the stresses can be released during the cutting process, resulting in a flatter sheet. Choosing cut options B and D will have the grain running length ways and is more prone to having a twist in the sheet. If you are concerned about plywood twists or bends, or have limited experience in holding down your material when cutting then please reach out to us when ordering so we can try to find the right sheet or cut for your project. Our 6mm hoop pine has a 5 layer construction vs 3 layer as seen in the 4mm sheets. This 6mm product is more suited to larger cuts and signs etc.

Q. How do you package the plywood
A. Our stock is carefully cut and packaged. We use heavy duty custom boxes to send the majority of our products including plywood.  Below is 600x400mm and 600x600mm orders being packed.
